IEEE STUDENT BRANCH OF UNIVERSITY OF VOCATIONAL TECHNOLOGY
IEEE Student
Branch of University of Vocational Technology seeks to enhance the learning
experience of the student community on the University of Vocational Technology.
The Student Branch focuses on conducting social and technical activities for
students, and also encourages the students to take full advantage of the
benefits of IEEE membership, including scholarships, competitions, and
conference grants. The Student Branch also intends to provide opportunities for
students to network with peers in other institutes, academicians, professionals,
engineers, and scientists through on IEEE Student Branch and the Local IEEE
Section, thereby encouraging students to be a part of the global IEEE
community.
In the year 2018, the
IEEE Student Branch of University of Vocational Technology officially lunched
under the Sri Lanka Section. The student branch a number of workshops and
conferences for both UoVT students and members from other IEEE student branches
in Sri Lanka with the purpose of enriching them with the most modern
technological knowledge in order to survive in the industry and encouraging
them for innovations in technology.
What is IEEE?
IEEE is a global
non-profit organization and the world's leading professional association for
the advancement of technology. The full name of the IEEE is the Institute of
Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc., although the organization is
referred to by the letters I-E-E-E and pronounced Eye-triple-E. Through its
global membership, the IEEE is a leading authority on areas ranging from
aerospace systems, computers and telecommunications to biomedical engineering,
electric power and consumer electronics among others. Professionals,
academicians, researchers and students rely on the IEEE as a source of
technical and professional information, resources and services. To foster an
interest in the engineering profession, the IEEE also serves students in colleges
and universities around the world. Other important constituencies include
prospective employers and organizations that purchase IEEE products and
participate in conferences or other IEEE programs.

IEEE is geographically
made up of 10 Regions and 330 Sections worldwide. Sri Lanka belongs to Region
10 (Asia-Pacific) under the umbrella of the IEEE, which coordinates by sri
lanka section also provides effective representation and support for the university
student branches. IEEE Sri Lanka section has eighteen student branches in sri
lankan government and privet universities.

How to join IEEE?
Any student can log on to
IEEE website and pay the required amount of fee to become a member, or he/she
can submit the membership fee to any committee member of IEEE Student Branch of
University of Vocational Technology. She/he submit the membership fee for though
the IEEE website with according to the applicant’s perspective.

When students join IEEE,
they automatically become members of the IEEE Student Branch of University of
Vocational Technology. Students, like professional members, automatically
become members of their local IEEE Section and Region, allowing them to share
technical, professional and personal interests with others in IEEE's worldwide
member community.
You will gain exposure by organizing events and interacting with other members,
and earn certificates, awards and accolades which gives you an edge over others
in placement. All Gallery of IEEE Student Branch are volunteers. But on the
basis of experience and responsibility, there are certain positions in the
